On the beautiful Hoge Gouwe canal in Gouda, a community residence was designed for the Gemiva SVG group. 27 clients with an intellectual disability can live and recreate here autonomously. While care is provided for 24/7, emphasis was placed on this being hardly visible.

The building's composition is in compliance with the scale and appearance of the inner city, without compromising the uniqueness of the building. This was achieved by applying the structure of the traditionally shaped Gouda city mansion as a basic grid. Within this grid, the residential buildings are composed with the characteristic looseness of the traditional Dutch inner cities, resulting in a friendly ensemble.
